Debby and I moved to New Zealand in 2006 after many years working internationally in UK, India, USA, Singapore and Hong Kong.

My career has largely been centered around insurance claims adjustment, resolution and management.

As a qualified Fellow of the Association of Average Adjuster, I have extensive experience in resolving marine insurance claims in many jurisdictions. 

Over the years, I have translated the high level of technical expertise in marine claims (Hull, cargo, builders risks, ship repairers liability etc) to develop claims and claims management skills in all areas of non-life insurance.

Strong leadership, teaching and coaching skills and an ability to motivate teams to achieve positive outcomes have lead to claims leadership positions with a number of companies. In these roles I have transformed and developed claims processes and IT solutions to deliver consistent and sustainable improved claims KPI performance within over 10 countries.

Having been based in Christchurch at the time of the earthquakes, I have contributed to the rebuild of the City as a senior insurance consultant to various New Zealand Government agencies in relation to earthquake related insurance issues.

In 2014, Debby and I moved to Wanaka in the heart of the South Island of New Zealand. Willum Richards Consulting Ltd serves a wide range of clients in South East Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Islands.
